Khalifahs of the Earth

Volunteer introduction / Why It Matters CTa

Mission Possible invites you to step beyond yourself and take part in meaningful, hands-on service rooted in shared humanity. Rather than giving from afar, you will work directly with refugees and vulnerable families, distributing essential aid such as food packs, winter supplies, and hygiene kits while listening to their stories firsthand.

Guided by an experienced team and a structured programme, you will also contribute to home improvements, school upkeep and children’s activities. Daily reflection sessions link your service to faith, gratitude and purpose, allowing each act of support to foster dignity, hope, resilience and personal spiritual growth.

“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity.”

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Abu Dawud, Hadith 126.

On deployment, our days began early as we packed food parcels, loaded vans and travelled out to camps and neighbourhoods where refugees waited patiently in the sun. Handing over a winter blanket, a hygiene pack, or a toy for a child felt like such a small gesture, yet the reactions were overwhelming. Parents smiled in relief, children laughed and clung to our hands, and elderly beneficiaries made heartfelt duas for the group. Each evening, we gathered to reflect, share our emotions, and connect what we had witnessed with our faith. The experience was humbling, challenging and uplifting all at once, a reminder that real change starts when we show up, listen and serve together.

A MISSION THAT CHANGES YOU

Volunteering with Mission Possible is a deeply transformative experience that benefits both the communities you serve and your personal growth. You will step beyond your comfort zone, adapt to unfamiliar environments and collaborate within a diverse team, building confidence, resilience and empathy along the way. Through hands-on service, you will develop practical, transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and time management. Guided reflection sessions connect these experiences to your faith and personal goals, helping you return home with renewed purpose, gratitude and a lasting commitment to supporting those in need.

You will gain far more than you give, in perspective, connection and a deeper understanding of what it means to live your values.

Page relevant FAQs

  • What is Mission Possible?
Mission Possible is Islamic Help’s structured volunteer deployment programme. Volunteers travel as a team to countries in need, helping to deliver emergency aid, support community projects and stand with vulnerable families. Trips are short but intensive, combining hands-on service, learning and reflection so your time creates meaningful, lasting impact.
  • Where do deployments go?
Deployments currently run to countries such as Egypt, Jordan and Tanzania, depending on needs and live projects at the time. Each trip focuses on specific locations, refugee communities and partner organisations. Final destinations, dates and itineraries are confirmed in advance, and full details are shared in the information pack once you register interest.
  • What will I be doing day to day?
Day to day, you might pack and distribute food parcels, deliver winter and hygiene kits, visit hospitals, help renovate homes or schools, and run simple activities with orphans, children and elderly refugees. You will follow a clear timetable, work alongside local staff and volunteers, and join evening reflection sessions.
  • Do I need previous experience?
You do not need formal humanitarian experience to join Mission Possible. What matters most is good health, a willingness to work hard in a team, and openness to learning. Pre-departure briefings, on-the-ground guidance and clear safety procedures are provided, so first-time volunteers feel supported, confident and ready to serve.
  • How much do I need to fundraise?
Each deployment has a set fundraising target that helps pay for the aid you distribute and projects you support on the ground. Exact amounts vary by trip and are confirmed when you apply. You will receive guidance, tools and plenty of time to reach your target before travelling overseas.
